General Information
Have you already visited germany? Mostly every german speaks english, so that you can also ask in english, if nobody understand your german. German is a quite complicated language comparing it to the romanic language. The romanic words are deducted from the latinum, so there is quite a very low compromise to the german language. Because of this, we know that it needs time to speak quite good german and the only way to lern it is to speak every day with our nurses in german.
Besides the language there are cultural differences that are important to respect. The germans in common are nice and friendly, but they need also time to open themselves to know other persons. So first of all we could say that we are observing and conservative. Some things are just important to understand and to respect. In our nursing homes we dont welcome our customers with a “you” [in english you is the same in both ways] as designation. We prefer to say “Sir” or “Sie” in german and we respect the older age or persons with more experience in a friendly way. We keep the right distance to our customers, not passing the private sphere, althought we give our customers the feeling that we are psychological parents.
In our nursing homes we dont scream or speak in an unrespectful way, neither to our customers nor to our colleagues. We have rules for how we communicate and how to behave in our residences.
