• Why is this subject so important?

Every City is different and bigger cities are more expensive than smaller cities (simplified). Big cities like München or Hamburg are very expensive and we want to give you some informations that are important to you, because we made the experience that nurses dont look enough forward or do not make plans for the next 5 or 10 years!

1. If you earn before taxes 2.500 Euro (called in german “brutto”), you will receive after taxes round about 1.630 Euro (called in german “netto”) (depending on which tax class you are assigned)
2. Dont forget, that its also important to check how many vacation days your employer gives you
3. Some companies pay a retirement provision – here you dont receive the money, but the employer pays money to an organization, so that you receive additional to the labor agreement another payment if you are older than 65 years
4. Most of the nurses dont know that in South Saxonia or in other german contries the operator of nursing homes have different key quotes referring to the personal staff and how they work. 5. Check if there is a good atmosphere in a nursing home and ask who is the best nurse or the nurse with the most experience. You always should follow people who know their own job. Never forget that in a good company you can always ask the chief of a nursing home with every question although there are always employees who dont understand when somebody just makes a better job.
6. To be a good nurse means: To be punctual, loyal, open minded, emphatic, active in communication and active in going towards other persons instead of waiting that someone comes to you. You can read more on the site: “description of your job”
7. Do the employer perhaps spend fitness cards or other money that are tax free? Like for example gasoil up to an amount to 42 Euros per month?
8. Understand that every employer has to see first that you are a loyal employee and that its worth to invest more in you!
9. When you have kids and dont speak perfect german, dont forget that you spend money when you live near the nursing home and you dont have to drive your kids to another school that is far away (in germany there are a lot of lovely small towns that really offer all what you need to live a happy life!)
10. To live in a bigger city can mean also to calculate the time that you need to drive to the nursing home! Time is money! Dont forget this!

• Know, beside the upper points dont forget that for example the rent in a smaller town near a bigger town is much smaller than in a bigger town. So if you want to spend your money to reach your targets, you should make an own financial plan to optimize your living costs. If you have absolutely no idea about what we are talking, do not hesitate to ask about this point. At the end it´s important to find a good balance between your personal targets, money and your free time! We really can´t recommend to work more than 40 hours! It´s very important to use your free time to regenerate from your job, especially for sanity or a healthy mind.
